The History of High Camp Hut: During the early mining days the High Camp property was used as a logging camp. After mining slowed down, hunters and summer campers continued to enjoy this beautiful place. In 1985, Dave and Sherry Farny purchased the 320 acres surrounded by National Forest, with the idea of enriching their guests’ experience during their stay at the Skyline Guest Ranch. The guests spent Friday nights at this beautiful spot and affectionately named it High Camp. In 2000, Dave and Sherry, along with lots of help from friends, constructed a large two-story cabin from spruce trees on the property. In 2003, they gave the subdivision rights to Nature Conservancy, thus protecting this spot from additional development. The closest neighbor is at least 7 miles away and over the mountain! Cindy Farny bought High Camp from her parents in 2005 and has added a few more creature comforts. The cabin sleeps 14 easily; there is a wood-fired sauna, the kitchen is well equipped and easy to use. A solar panel provides lights, the beds are comfortable and the composting toilet clean and odorless. Cindy has taken care of the details so you will feel comfortable in this remote and magical place.
