OUR TEAM
Cindy Farny
Cindy bought High Camp from her parent's in 2005, who instilled in her a love for being outside. Her parents, Dave and Sherry, bought High Camp in 1989 as an additional place to take guests on Friday nights while running Skyline Guest Ranch.
Skyline Guest Ranch served as the base camp and this property became High Camp. Guests will quickly feel Cindy’s love for this magical place. She is deeply passionate about working at High Camp. Year after year, she works to improve the property with projects that make it a more comfortable place to stay.
Cindy’s motto has always been that "when people enjoy being in nature they will help to protect it." She believes that after a stay at High Camp Hut guests will come to love this place as much as she does. She encourages you to bring your sense of adventure and has faith that you will leave wanting to return to this simply amazing place.
Pam & Eric
Pam and Eric found their way to High Camp through a chance meeting with Cindy in the parking lot at Lizard Head Pass. One visit to the hut, and they were hooked. For both, coming to Southwest Colorado felt like coming home.
Eric, who grew up in Parker CO, is thrilled to return to the Rockies after many years away. Pam spent her high school years in Los Alamos, NM, and has always felt at home in the mountains and deserts of the Southwest.
Eric brings 30 years of experience in construction and project management, while Pam, after a 33-year career as a physical therapist, is embracing the opportunity to work outdoors and learn new skills.
When not at the hut, they spend as much time as possible hiking, mountain biking, rafting, and skiing. Both feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the magic of High Camp.
PETE SWEENEY
We’re excited to welcome Pete Sweeney to the Friends of High Camp team for the winter months. With many years spent working in both the mountains and at sea, Pete has developed a deep appreciation for the natural world—something he hopes every guest will experience during their time at High Camp.
As our winter operations manager, Pete helps keep things running smoothly, freeing Cindy to focus on building a sustainable future for this special place. Whether he’s tending to the woodstove, packing in supplies, or simply sharing stories of snow and stewardship, Pete brings care, experience, and heart to everything he does.
When he’s not at High Camp, you’ll find him in the shadows of Mount Katahdin, preserving and protecting Maine’s forever wild Baxter State Park.
