Activities at High Camp
Step Outside
At High Camp, a simple walk out the door can change your whole day. Fresh mountain air, quiet trails, wide-open views — it’s the kind of reset we all need.
“Nature teaches us to slow down, look around, and just be.”
“High Camp Hut is so special and the perfect place to foster authentic conversations and grow relationships. We will be back!”
Explore at Your Own Pace
Watch the sun rise from Pica Peak. Wander through wildflower meadows or snowy forests. Follow our written directions to hidden gems like the cirque above camp or the legendary split rock. Don’t miss “The Big Tree” — a giant Engelmann Spruce over 12 feet around.
Fun for All Ages
Enjoy sledding and building snow forts and tunnels with the kids in the winter. In summer, they’ll love to roam free, building woodland forts, hiking, or just playing in the meadows. Pica Peak is right out the door for year-round fun.
Slow Mornings & Good Company
Inside the cabin, you’ll find books, games, and plenty of laughter. Mornings are unhurried — coffee on the couch, a good story, someone cracking a joke. The wood stove (aka Caveman TV) sets the scene for cozy evenings.
Soak, Sauna, and Unwind
Relax in the wood-fired sauna, or reward yourself after a long day of adventure with a soak in the wood-fired hot tub. Either way, you'll feel it in your bones — the kind of calm you can’t get in town.
Retreats
During the summer we offer educational nature based retreats bringing people together to learn why nature matters in our lives. The retreats we offer are: Wildflowers and Watercolors (Cindy’s Favorite), Transformational Journey into Awe, Poetry Inspired by Nature, and more. They are all amazing. 5 Lessons We Can Learn From Nature
Stillness: Like how trees respond best to light and warmth, in a calm, unhurried state, stillness is where we see real growth take place.
Connection: Every ecosystem is connected, from the smallest microorganism to the biggest animals. As humans, we too need a healthy connection with our planet and one another.
Hope: We find hope through nature’s seasons and its cycles. The sun will eventually rise, the leaves will return, and flowers will bloom. Life can be seasonal and cyclical, but there is always hope.
Beauty: In nature there is beauty everywhere you look, from the tiniest details to the largest vistas, and it teaches us to see the beauty in everything, even in our own lives.
Patience: From the highest mountains to the tallest trees, nature’s wonders take time to form and grow. We should view our growth in the same way and give ourselves patience, even when growth doesn’t always come quick or easy.
