We are delighted to announce that Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer will be leading an unforgettable retreat at High Camp Hut! Imagine stepping away from the demands of daily life and immersing yourself in poetry and nature in one of the most breathtaking and secluded settings in the San Juan Mountains. With only 12 participants, this intimate retreat offers the time and space to reflect, create, and connect—both with nature and a supportive community of kindred spirits.

Led by accomplished poet and teacher Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, this intimate gathering invites participants to explore how words can transform emotions, deepen awareness, and capture the essence of the wild. Through poetry readings, guided writing sessions, and thoughtful instruction, participants will discover new ways to express themselves while surrounded by alpine beauty. Beyond the written word, the retreat offers invigorating hikes, restorative soaks in the hot tub, evenings by the campfire, and chef-prepared meals—all fostering creativity, connection, and renewal. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or simply seeking inspiration, this retreat is a rare opportunity to slow down, immerse yourself in nature, and let poetry guide you home.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, a celebrated poet, teacher, and facilitator is known for her warmth, insight and ability to guide others toward honest, and powerful writing. Her poetry has been featured on A Prairie Home Companion, PBS News Hour, O Magazine, American Life in Poetry, and Carnegie Hall’s stage. In 2024, she became Evermore’s first poet laureate helping others navigate life’s beauty and grief through poetry. Rosemerry is compassionate, patient and loves to share her talents with others. Cindy has dreamed of having her friend Rosemerry hold a retreat at High Camp, and we are thrilled to have that dream come to fruition this summer.
ABOUT OUR CHEF:
Brittany Greer is a lifelong lover and maker of food. Born in West Texas, she has lived in the mountains of Colorado, the jungle of Costa Rica and the city of Los Angeles, where she has gathered experiences and tastes from many different places and cultures. In the kitchen she thinks primarily of nutrition-focused meals. She believes in sustainability and food as medicine, as well as curating a tailored experience that suits the needs of our guests. Her delicious meals will leave you feeling nourished in both body and soul.
